Velp reports growing export volume for its stucco wire mesh and high rib lath range, driven by construction activity in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The range covers expanded metal lath, welded plaster mesh and Hy Rib permanent formwork used to key plaster coats and to support concrete pours.

Plaster reinforcement is a deceptively technical product. If the lath has inconsistent rib height or a weak key, the plaster coat cracks or detaches within a season. Velp therefore manufactures to fixed rib geometry and checks mesh-to-paper bond on every batch.

• High rib lath - 0.45 mm steel high rib lath with 3/8" rib depth for ceilings, beams and large span soffits.

How Hy Rib Reduces Site Cost

Hy Rib stays in place after the concrete sets, so the contractor avoids stripping and re-erecting formwork on repeat floor cycles. The ribbed profile bonds mechanically with the concrete, creating a shear key that improves crack control at construction joints. For edge formwork and slab soffits, this shortens cycle time and reduces labor on each floor.

Installation Guidance

• Fix lath with the long dimension across supports and overlap ribs by one full rib.
• Keep a minimum 25 mm plaster cover over lath for exterior exposure.
• Use galvanized lath outdoors; specify stainless in coastal or high-humidity sites.
• Stagger sheet joints and fix at 150 mm centers along supports.
